General Dental Services - Woodcock Lane Dental Care, Stonehouse Gloucestershire
We are pleased to offer routine dental care to you and your family to ensure healthy smiles.
At every examination, after reviewing your general medical status, we thoroughly check the health of your teeth and gums, as well as screening the soft tissues (tongue, lips, cheeks etc) for any problems such as mouth cancer. X-rays may be recommended to aid correct diagnosis. We have the very latest digital x-ray equipment installed, thus ensuring the X-ray dose will be the lowest possible.
If treatment is advised, or cosmetic treatment agreed upon, a written treatment plan and estimate will be issued. You will always be given time to ask questions and discuss any dental problems you may have.
Here at Woodcock Lane Dental Care we recognise the importance of preventive dental care, and for our patients added benefit we have gentle dental hygienists and excellent oral health educators who can provide bespoke preventive advice.
Hygienist treatments range from a maintenance or cosmetic scale and polish to complex therapy for severe gum disease. Your gums (and jaw bone) are the foundations for your teeth; it is important to keep them healthy, to maintain your smile and provide fresh breath.
Our hygienists have also been fully trained in providing gentle local anaesthetic to make gum treatment pain free. They can also take impressions of your teeth (when prescribed by your dentist) to make dental models if required.
We provide a full range of high quality restorative dentistry, including silver amalgam fillings, tooth coloured fillings, root canal treatments, ceramic fillings, crowns, bridges and implants to replace missing teeth.
We are able to provide NHS dental care to children under the age of 18 years old or aged 18 and in full-time education. If you would prefer us to provide private care for your children please let us know.
For more details please see our children’s dentistry section.
These advanced dental restorations are all constructed from high quality materials by our skilful, experienced dental laboratory technicians.
A crown is used to strengthen a tooth that is heavily restored with a filling material. The natural tooth and filling is filed down by a small amount and the laboratory made crown (“thimble”) can then be cemented or bonded over the remaining tooth substance.
An inlay or onlay is similar to a crown but does not encase the entire tooth, only a proportion of it.
These are essential for anyone playing ball sports or contact sports, to prevent injuries to the teeth and gums.
They are custom made to fit your mouth accurately, and are manufactured from tough, long lasting PVC. Various colours and thicknesses are available. Specialist orthodontic mouth guards are available for those wearing a conventional brace.
We are able to provide a range of quality partial and full plastic dentures. In many cases a metal frame-work will be recommended – this type of denture is usually less bulky, easier to wear and is invariably more stable. All the dentures we provide are custom-made locally by our very experienced dental technician.
We recommend that anyone wearing full dentures should still have regular examinations of their gums and soft tissues of the mouth, as part of our oral cancer screening examination.
Anyone can ask for a complimentary smile assessment – you don’t even have to be a regular patient at Woodcock Lane Dental Care.
Please telephone for details and to arrange an appointment with Jackie or Cheryl, our treatment co-ordinators, who will advise you on ways to improve your smile.
Implants are the most up-to-date and preferred method of replacing a missing tooth, or teeth. They can also be used to securely retain removable dentures.
For more details please see our implants section.
We believe your smile and dental health are of paramount importance. By providing minimally invasive cosmetic dentistry we are able to achieve the best cosmetic results, but with a minimum amount of tooth cutting.
