This depends on the length of time you need an appointment for, and how busy the appointment books are.
Dental examination appointments are normally available within a few days, but longer appointments may need to be booked a few weeks ahead. Please ask to be put on our cancellation list if you want to book at short notice.
If you are in pain we will see you as soon as possible and will normally offer you an appointment the same day.
Gums (and the jaw bone beneath them) are like the foundations for your teeth. After recording the health of your gums, our dentists may recommend one or more visits to see our hygienists, for your future benefit.
From a maintenance or cosmetic scale and polish to treatment of gum disease, a visit to our hygienists will allow your gums to become healthier and allow you to keep your teeth longer.
Our hygienists will also give you advice on how you can prevent further dental diseases, such as dental decay and erosion.
Many people experience some form of "nerves" when visiting the dentist. Find out more about how we can help nervous patients on our Sedation page.
In most cases, yes. This treatment may be carried out at home, or in the surgery.

We prefer payment (cash, cheque or credit/debit card) either at the start of a course of treatment or you can pay for each item of treatment as and when you have them completed.
Alternatively if you wish to spread the cost of dental care you may wish to join one of the Denplan schemes we are able to offer our patients, or another of the many dental insurance schemes available.
In these unfortunate circumstances we may make a charge towards covering the cost of lost surgery time, but that will depend on circumstances. We promise not to charge for appointments cancelled or altered with more than 48 hours notice.
Our front reception desk staff can remind you about appointments the day before, if you ask them to do so at the time you book your appointments.
You may choose to receive a reminder by telephone, by text or by email – please let us know your preference.

No. Healthy gums do not bleed.
Bleeding is an indication of gum disease. Diseased gums will, however, bleed if they are brushed after a period of inadequate brushing.
We offer a comprehensive service to treat gum disease and the loose or lost teeth it can cause. We will then help you to maintain gum health with our maintainance scheme.
Please speak to your dentist or hygienist for further details.
Bad breath is often caused by volatile sulphuric compounds (vsc’s) building up on the soft tissues of the mouth. A simple remedy is to brush your tongue or use a tongue scraper. If the VSCs are further back in the mouth, around the tonsils, it may be a case of using a specific type of mouthwash.
Please make an appointment to see us so we can discuss this confidentially with you. We will establish if there is a problem and if it is dentally related – for example untreated dental diseases: decayed teeth, cavities or holes in teeth and/or gum disease. We can then give you appropriate advice and care.
Some people benefit from wearing a custom-made anti-snoring device/appliance – or at least their partners do!
If this is something you’d be interested in please talk to one of our dentists for further details.
